This One Day Membership covers a limited amount of public liability and personal injury claims. For more information on membership to Triathlon Australia visit www.triathlon.org.au
On line entry process
To enter the event go to the Enter Now tab above and then click the Enter all triathlon tab. This will take you to a secure entry system where you can chose your event and pay on line with mastercard or visa card. You will need to have an email address to receive your confirmation of entry. Please be careful to enter the email address correctly or the confirmation will not reach you.
When entering you will be asked if you are:
-
an individual wanting to enter. This is for individuals and relay teams that are NOT part of a larger staff or group of individuals or teams who are representing a business or group.
-
wanting to join an existing team. This is for anyone who is aware someone from their organisation has set up a team entry group. Just join the team by following the prompts.
- wanting to create a new group team. Remember this is not a relay team, but a larger group of people wishing to represent their business or group. This can be 'pay as you go 'or also be paid in bulk by the team manager. See below:
With approval from the event manager we can also set up a system that allows staff or associates you wish to pay for to enter on line without paying. This managed teams system will allow you to give a password to anyone you wish to enter. They simply enter the password and can enter without paying. The Team Manager must confirm the entries and then pay via card or account before the entries can be confirmed as accepted.
Contact the event manager for details of this process on paul@hevents.com.au

Race Rules
The Sparke Helmore/NBN Triathlon is run under the rules of Triathlon Australia. For information about these rules please visit Triathlon Australia on www.triathlon.org.au or contact the Race Director, Paul Humphreys at paul@hevents.net. This is a non drafting race which means that participants must not form packs in the cycle leg and should remain at least 7 metres behind the front wheel of the bike in front (except when passing). See new rules for the Olympic Distance Event HERE
Prizes
The individual or team with the fastest aggregate time in each category is declared the winner for that category. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in each category. There are also overall winners for each event. These people are then not eligible for their age category prizes.
All participants in the event will receive a commemorative race shirt if entered before 7 March 2010. There will also be random prize draws during the presentation.

The course is designed to showcase the best aspects of the Newcastle Foreshore. The race compound is located opposite Nobby's Beach in Camp Shortland off Wharf Rd. First race starts at 6.30am. If arriving after the first event has started we suggest approaching the site via the western end of Wharf Rd, where you will be able to access the harbour side of Wharf Rd without crossing the cycle leg. There will be barriers and marshals located to allow access to the event compound.
SWIM LEGS - 1500m or 500m
The 1500m Swim will begin 200m west of Queens Wharf on Newcastle Harbour. Swimmers will swim along the shoreline until Horeshoe Beach. This will be a mass start and swimmers should seed themselves. The 500 swim begins at the eastern end of Horseshoe Beach. You will swim out to a turn buoy and return to a marker near the beach, where you will swim out to another buoy and return to the western end of the beach to exit the water. The swim course is an M shape to avoid entering the Harbour channel. Start times may be delayed due to ship movements and the swim could be changed from West to East if conditions require this.
On exiting the water, all swimmers must run approximately 250m to the transition area to collect their bike or tag their rider. Special consideration will be given to physically challenged participants.
